Pre-Retirement Seminars

What is a Pre-Retirement Seminar?

Sainsburys runs a series of pre-retirement seminars for its colleagues. These are held approximately six times a year at Letchworth Halls in Hertfordshire.

These seminars are fully residential and run from 11am Monday to 3.30 pm Tuesday. This is completely free to you, travel expenses will be reimbursed and as a colleague you will get time off to attend.

The seminar consists of a series of specialist speakers, on subjects as diverse as DSS benefits, diet and health, leisure time, Veterans benefits, coping with bereavement, financial advice (including taxation, inheritance tax, budgeting, investments), fitness and pensions (including individual pensions consultations if requires). The aim is to get you thinking positively about retirement and to start planning for it. By its very nature, you will get greatest benefit if you attend some months ahead of retirement.

Do I have to attend?

No, it is entirely at your discretion.

How do I know if I'm eligible to attend?

If you have 15 years continuous group service you are eligible. You need to make your wishes known to your Personnel/Line Manager, who then needs to complete a nomination form on Connect. Oncel Pensions have agreed and confirmed your retirement date, you will receive an invitation.

You will be sent a Pre-Retirement Seminar booking form together with available dates and agenda details. This information will be sent directly to your home address.

You will then liaise with the Veterans Support Office to book your place.
